Hello,
I am looking for a quiet and comfortable home in the Skien/Ulefoss area, ideally available from October 1, 2026, for a minimum rental period of six months.
I am 48 years old, hold a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, and will be starting a new permanent position in the area in October. I currently live in Västerås, Sweden, so I would need to arrange a video viewing before making a final decision.
I am quiet, tidy, responsible, financially stable, a non-smoker, and I have no pets. I am looking for a place that can feel like a proper home rather than a short-term stop. I value a peaceful living environment and take very good care of the property I rent.
The apartment should preferably be as fully furnished as possible, since I am relocating from Sweden and would like to avoid moving large amounts of furniture. I am looking for at least one bedroom and also need good storage space, ideally a separate storage room, basement storage, or similar.
A washing machine and dishwasher are preferred.
Location is important. I need to be within easy walking distance of a bus stop served by the R1 bus, as I will rely on public transport for my daily commute. I do not require parking.
My preferred maximum rent is approximately 11,000 NOK per month. It would be convenient if electricity and/or internet were included, but this is not a requirement.
I am flexible regarding exact location within the Skien/Ulefoss area, as long as the property is in good condition, in a calm area, and has convenient access to the R1 route.
Regarding the deposit, I prefer the standard Norwegian solution with a separate deposit account. Since I am currently registered at a Swedish address and will be changing my address to Norway as part of the move, there may be some practical timing issues when opening the deposit account. I am also happy to use Qasa if the landlord prefers that solution. I would appreciate a flexible and legally compliant arrangement while my registration is being completed.
I can provide documentation of employment, income, ID, and references promptly if required.
My plan is to rent for at least six months while I settle into the new job and get to know the area. After that, I expect to start looking for an apartment to buy locally, so I am looking for a comfortable and stable base during that transition.
