Hiya! I’m a researcher employed at the University of Oslo, and am currently looking for long-term accommodation in the Oslo area. I’m originally from Scotland, with dual Irish (EU) nationality, and have recently moved to Norway after 10 years in Sweden. I don’t have a permanent personnummer or BankID, but will be eligible for both once I’ve signed a long-term housing contract.

Here’s some further details about me and what I’m looking for in a (hopefully!) easy to digest way:

About me
• Originally from Scotland with dual Irish (EU) nationality
• Employed as a researcher at the University of Oslo after 10 years living in Sweden
• I am a calm and quiet person, who keeps my house clean and (reasonably) tidy
• My biggest hobby is music, especially piano (both classical and combined with singing in Scots). I aim to practice daily after work (late afternoon/early evening) so hope that’s not an issue! I also play a wee bit of violin (Scots folk and classical) and like to sing in choirs.
• Outside of music I like reading, PC gaming, baking, board games, cooking and catching up with pals over tea or a few pints
• Non-smoker and have no pets (but always get on well with both cats and dogs)
• Recently moved to Norway, so don’t have a permanent personnummer or BankID
• I can ask my current and previous landlords for references if you need them, but have never had any complaints from either

What I’m (ideally) looking for
• Long-term contract (minimum 6 months, but ideally somewhere I can stay the whole 3+ years)
• Starting mid-December (but starting anywhere from mid-November to start of January would also work)
• My own space – a whole apartment/wee house for myself, no shared kitchen/bathroom
• Ideally more than 45m (high 30s minimum if well set up)
• 1 bedroom
• 2-3 rooms would be nice (separate living room/kitchen from the bedroom)
• Basement flat could be alright, if good-sized windows and good lighting
• Either furnished (with space for a digital piano, bookcase and computer desk/chair) or unfurnished (with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/drier) is fine
• Good or decent public transport links to the university (less than 40 minutes travel time and/or a single T-bane train would be ideal)
• Rent – ideally within the 14000-16000kr range (wee bit more possible for a particularly good flat)
• Usual utilities included. Electricity and/or internet being outside the rent is fine
