Warm and creative community in Våland 🌿

We are five happy humans who have found a beautiful house in Våland, Stavanger, and are now looking for one or two more people to complete our community. If this sounds like something for you, we’d love to hear from you! Please write something about yourself and your motivation for living in a community like this, and please read the post to the end so you know what to expect. :)

We are in direct contact with the owner and have made a unique agreement with him for renting the house.

The house has a large and bright living room that opens onto a spacious sun room and terrace where we imagine long breakfasts, shared dinners, music, conversations, and slow evenings together. Outside you’ll find a beautiful garden with a charming seperate winter garden—a peaceful place for reading, gardening, working on creative projects, or simply enjoying the changing seasons.

There are two parts to the house. One main part above with three floors, and the basement below which is considered a separate unit. The bedrooms in the main part are now occupied by the five of us, and we are currently looking for people to inhabit the basement. We are however open to people changing rooms in the future. The basement is fully functional as a living space, with kitchen/living room, bathroom and two bedrooms. We would like to make the basement part of the overall living space, so that the community as a whole has access to the entire house.

More than anything, what drew us to this place was its potential to become a wholesome home and meeting place. A house where people don’t simply happen to live under the same roof, but actively create a community together.

The spirit of the community we are building is based on doing, sharing, creating, and building, in a warm, inclusive, and respectful space.

What we do
Outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, spending time in nature. Engaging in thoughtful conversations where different perspectives are welcomed without judgment. Taking care of the house and garden, and enjoying everyday life together. Events and get- togethers. Playing music together.

What we share
Delicious meals, many of which are vegetarian and non-vegetarian combined. We share dinner together at least once a week.

Books we love – morning poetry sessions over breakfast.

Walks, music, dancing, tea, bonfires, laughter and quiet moments.

What we create
Poems and essays. Paintings and drawings. Music and songs. Events and gatherings. Tarot readings. A home where creativity is encouraged and people inspire one another.

What we build
Community. Friendships. Trust. A home where people feel seen and welcome. Physical projects in the garden or around the house as ideas emerge.

We appreciate sharing everyday responsibilities such as cleaning, shopping, cooking, and taking care of the house. Living together works best when everyone contributes, communicates openly, and appreciates each other’s efforts.

About us

Juliane
Juliane is originally from Germany but has lived in Norway for several years. She studies theology and works for the church. Although her work is connected to Christianity, she is genuinely open to people of all religions, philosophies, and worldviews. She enjoys deep conversations about theology, philosophy, and life’s bigger questions. She loves reading, rides a motorcycle, and shares her life with a small toy poodle who is an important part of the household.

Anders
Anders has long been interested in intentional communities and believes communal and multi-generational living may become an important part of the future. He values clear communication, appreciation, curiosity, and open-mindedness, and sees living together as something to continually learn from. He enjoys reading (especially Thomas Mann and Hermann Hesse), sleeping outdoors, Jungian psychology, philosophy, poetry, exploring neighborhoods by bicycle, and occasionally playing the Irish tin whistle. He has also studied religion at university.

Harald
Harald is an artist with a big heart for people and the world around him. Music is a central part of his life—he is a wonderful guitarist and songwriter who loves sharing songs around the fireplace or during quiet evenings at home. He swims almost every day, meditates regularly, and finds joy in both creativity and presence. Cooking for others is one of his favourite ways of showing care, and he endeavors to help create a home where people feel welcome, inspired, and at ease.

Dashuo
Dashuo is a poet at heart who is deeply inspired by poetry, philosophy, and spiritual practice. He enjoys meaningful conversations, meditation, and exploring the many ways people seek connection—with themselves, with each other, and with the world. He loves cooking Chinese food for friends, practising Chinese calligraphy, travelling, and discovering different cultures and traditions. In his presence creativity, curiosity, kindness, and shared experiences naturally become part of everyday life.

Henriette
Henriette (who will move in in november) is a teacher and a pedagogue, and a care worker. She is passionate about psychological and spiritual understanding of the human condition including working with trauma and healing from difficult experiences. Music is close to her heart, she plays both guitar, bass and piano and she also sings beautifully. She’s excited about making the house a welcoming home and decorating through painting the walls with warm colours and ornaments. The prospects of starting the day off with a cup of tea and a quiet conversation in the common spaces is something she is looking forward to.

If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear a little about who you are, what brings you joy, and why communal living appeals to you.

If you’d like to know more about us or see the house, send us a message here, and we can arrange a meeting—preferably in person, but online works too.

We welcome people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and walks of life. What matters most to us is not your age or where you come from, but that you enjoy living in community, are considerate of others, and would like to help create a warm and inspiring home together.

We look forward to hearing from you!
All the best,
Juliane, Anders, Henriette, Harald & Dashuo
